Dance trio collects competition honors

— The dance trio known as Spy Girls competed at Talent On Parade Competition Regional Finals in March at Rose State College in Oklahoma City. At that competition, the trio received the following awards:

• Elite top first place in the Teen/Senior Character Jazz Trio category.

• Third place in the overall high points award in the Teen/Senior Duet-Trio Division.

The trio qualified for National Finals, which took place in June at the Tulsa Convention Center.

At the national finals, where more than 1,500 acts competed, the group won a top first-place trophy in the Duet-Trio Jazz Character Division and also were honored with the “Spotlight” Special Judges Choice Award.

In previous years, Spy Girls has attended regional and national competitions with Stage One Dance Competition and Rainbow Dance Competition and Odyssey Dance Competition.

Spy Girls is taught by Laura Hazen at Muskogee’s Show Biz Dance Studio, which is owned and operated by Lisa Logan.
