‘NoveList’ helpful reader’s advisory service

— Need a better way to organize your reading? NoveList database at Muskogee Public Library is the answer, and it’s available in the library or from your home. When you create an account, you can set up your own folders, such as titles you’ve read and ones you’d like to read, just to name a few. You can also subscribe to e-newsletters for the latest news and happenings.

Can’t remember all the titles in a series? NoveList can help you find that series with all the titles listed in order. Have you ever read or heard about a book and can’t remember the title or author? NoveList has a search choice that helps you find that book. Want to find a new author? In the “Author Read-alikes” section you will find choices of similar authors.

When you find the book you’re interested in, click on the “Does my library have this” link and you can instantly see if it’s in the collection.

Book reviews are also available by clicking the “Goodreads” link under the image of the book cover. “Goodreads” is the largest social network for readers and is now partnered with NoveList to bring you even more features.

The “Teaching with Books” resource, found in the “Specialized Resources” section under “NoveList Resources” on the homepage, would be very helpful for teachers, children’s librarians and others who work with children and teens of pre-kindergarten through 12th grade to find curriculum-related resources. Also, in this section you will find a list of all award winning books from the past to present.

You can access Novelist from the Muskogee Public Library’s webpage at www.eok.lib.ok.us. Then click on the “Research” tab at the top and scroll down through the list until you see NoveList. If you have any questions, just ask our knowledgeable staff or call the library at (918) 682-6657 so you can enjoy all the benefits of this very helpful database.

Christe Blackett is a clerk for the Muskogee Public Library. You can reach her at (918) 682-6657.
