Area men are invited to attend a monthly breakfast from 7 to 8 a.m. on the first Tuesday of each month at Checotah’s First United Methodist Church’s Fellowship Hall at 419 W. Gentry.
The get-together has been dubbed the “Rooster Sunrise Gathering” by the Rev. Wayne Loftin, senior minister. He said in a media release men could expect to have an interesting, light-hearted, non-threatening good time together.
“This is not a club to join and there will never be fees to pay,” Loftin said in the release. “Just a freewill donation of no more than $1 to cover expenses.”
The Rev. Tyler Kirk, associate minister, will be the chief cook, assisted by volunteers. The 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. time slot has been selected so men who are employed will be able to enjoy food, coffee, and “guy chat” before work.
“We promise you that you will not be ‘hounded’ about religious issues,” Loftin said in the release. “We just want you to come and enjoy an interesting meeting with men of the area. There is no formal meeting format — just eat and visit.”
The next breakfast is scheduled April 2.
