NSU’s Galaxy of Stars season lineup listed

— TAHLEQUAH — Entering its 27th season, the Galaxy of Stars Series, presented by the Sequoyah Institute at Northeastern State University, has announced the lineup for its 2012-13 season, and tickets are now on sale.

“The Galaxy series is a longstanding tradition at NSU,” series director Amber Cowan said in a media release. “This season our patrons will be treated to brilliant performances and the community welcomed to one-of-a-kind educational outreach events.”

Curtain time for all performances is 7:30 p.m. at the NSU Center for the Performing Arts, 605 North Grand Ave.

Presentations for the 2012-13 season of the Galaxy of Stars are:

• Oct. 24 — Time for Three. A category-shattering trio including two violins and a double bass blend elements of classical, country-western, gypsy and jazz.

• Nov. 16 — The Water Coolers. Performers bring a clean musical comedy about work, life and such with original songs, sketches and pop parodies.

• Dec. 7 — Asleep at the Wheel. The nine-time Grammy-winning group performs Western swing versions of seasonal favorites with the “Santa Loves to Boogie” celebration.

• Jan. 25, 2013 — “An Evening With Frank Vignola.” An extraordinary guitarist who has worked with Ringo Starr and Madonna takes the spotlight with fellow guitarist Vinny  Raniolo.

• Feb. 26, 2013 — Neil Simon’s “Biloxi Blues.” The Montana Repertory Theatre presents the popular comedy about Army inductees struggling through basic training in Biloxi, Miss.

• March 28, 2013 — Step Afrika. The world-renowned dance company devoted to “stepping” demonstrates the percussive dance of kicks, stomps, claps and chants.

“At the Sequoyah Institute, we are very excited about the artists we have invited to Tahlequah this season,” Cowan said. “We wanted to bring our Galaxy of Stars audiences a diverse array of fine arts experiences, and we are certain they will enjoy these talented performers.”

Individual tickets go on sale Sept. 1. Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for NSU alumni, $16 for NSU employees and people 60 and older, $10 for students who do not attend NSU and $6 for NSU students.

Season tickets for all six shows are four times the individual price, and a “Favorite Four” package is available for three times the price of individual admission. Season tickets are available through Aug. 31. To reserve tickets, call (918) 458-2075.
