ASHLAND, Ky. (AP) — An eastern Kentucky church welcomed home country singer Naomi Judd during a weekend service.
A Sunday evening service at First Baptist Church in Ashland featured other musical performers on Sunday evening during a fundraiser for community charities. The Daily Independent of Ashland reports that Judd spoke near the end of the service and delivered a message of unity and diversity.
She also wandered through the crowd of more than 100, greeting family members who came to see her and individuals she remembered from her days growing up at the church.
As members of the mother-daughter country duo The Judds, Naomi and daughter Wynonna Judd had 15 No. 1 hits including "Mama He's Crazy" and "Grandpa (Tell Me 'Bout The Good Old Days)".
Naomi is also the mother of actress Ashley Judd.
