It may have sat empty for far too long, but it’s good to hear that the old Hastings building will be put to good use.
The Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center announced early this month that it will move part of its behavioral health unit into the former Hastings Books Music and Video store that has been empty for 10 years.
According to the VA, the renovated building at the Northpointe Plaza will assist and treat veterans suffering from post traumatic stress disorder and substance abuse problems.
The Department of Veterans Affairs has made use of several other empty buildings in town, and we should appreciate the federal agency’s investment in Muskogee, as well as the support it offers all veterans, not only those who live in this area.
