Welcome, Dr. Mukhtasar Syamsuddin.
Syamsuddin, a Muslim Indonesian and professor of religion and philosophy, is visiting northeast Oklahoma as a Fulbright Scholar for several weeks. The scholars are part of a U.S. exchange program to aid cross-cultural understanding.
We need that here in this part of the world because our perceptions of the Islamic world, no doubt, are confused by our ignorance of other parts of the globe and the radical elements that garner much of the world news.
We wish Syamsuddin the best and encourage Oklahomans to hear what he has to say.
