Congratulations to Marcella Morton of Westville, who received one of six national awards for making health a priority in her community.
Morton received the Steps Community Heroes Award earlier this month from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for her involvement in the Steps program. Established in 2003, the program promotes health-related issues.
The United States needs effective health programs and dedicated local workers, such as Morton. Americans battle numerous health problems caused by overeating and other poor habits, some of which are the result of our technological and sedentary lifestyles.
More Americans need to take control of their health as Morton did, by running and exercising and living by the motto “Everything in moderation.”
