City planners have opened an online opportunity for citizens to have input into Muskogee’s present and future.
The city set up a website seeking citizen input on its comprehensive plan, which could serve as the city’s guide for land use development, infrastructure, design and character over the next 10 to 15 years.
We applaud the city’s attempts to get input from its citizens.
An interactive website is a great way to hear from citizens who do not have the time to attend meetings, another good idea of the city.
The city has reached out — meetings and the website — in an attempt to hear from as many people as possible when planning our collective future.
But, the city’s efforts are for naught if the citizens fail to take advantage of the open ear.
If you can’t find the time to attend a meeting, go online.
If you can’t find the time or have access to the Internet, write a letter or call your councilor.
If you can’t find time to do any of those things, don’t take the time to complain about government leadership later.
Our form of government, from city hall to the White House, works only if enough people care enough to get involved and stay involved.
Here’s your chance to help us grow.
Here’s your chance to help solve problems.
If you don’t take advantage of the many ways to contact our city leaders, you are not trying hard enough.
And you should not complain if problems are not addressed.
We feel the city has gone to extremes to find ways to seek input from its citizens.
It’s up to you now.
