Childresses celebrate Golden Anniversary

June Jones and J. Y. Childress, both of Porter, Oklahoma, were married November 16, 1962, at the First Baptist Church in Porter.

J.Y. graduated in 1960 and June in 1962 from Porter High School.

They lived in the Porter area for eight years before moving to Haskell, Oklahoma, where they lived for 34 years. J.Y. farmed in the Choska bottoms area until he retired. They moved to Wagoner in 2004, where they now reside.

June worked for Lowrance Electronics in the accounting department for 23 years before retiring.

The couple have two sons, Michael Childress of Wagoner and Wade Childress of Wagoner; two grandsons; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.

The couple’s children honored their parents with an evening out to celebrate the special occasion.
