Bo and Opal Cannon will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2009, at the Oklahoma Centennial Rodeo Opry, 2221 Exchange Avenue, Oklahoma City with a special reunion show featuring The Cannons.
Bo Cannon and Opal Burks were married May 31, 1949, in Oregon, and now live on a farm-ranch, south of Wagoner. They have four children — Gary Cannon and wife Donna of Tulsa; Karla Shelby and husband, Terry, of Hollis; Larry Cannon and wife Sheryl, of Franklin, Tenn.; and Darla Miller and husband Mark of Norman. They have nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He retired from Corning Glass Works and ranching, and she is retired from Wagoner Public Schools.
The Cannons are made up of three of the couple’s four children — Karla, Larry and Darla, who had a recording career that took them to the Grand Ole Opry, appearances on “Hee Haw” and performances with stars like Reba McIntire to Mel Tillis. They wanted to honor their parents with the show as a thank you for the support during their musical career.
Tickets to the concert with The Cannons honoring their parents are available by calling (405) 297-9773 or www.ohfo.org.
