Alven and Rosanne Nunley celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their children and families in St. Louis, Mo.
After high school, Alven served four years in the U.S. Air Force. Rosanne graduated from the Oklahoma Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Muskogee and became a registered nurse. They later met at the First Baptist Church where they were married on April 25, 1959. Their 50 years have been filled with church activities, work, education and family. They were charter members of Southeast Baptist Church. They began their college education at Muskogee Junior College and both earned bachelor’s degrees from Northeastern State University, and master’s degrees from the University of Oklahoma.
Alven also earned a doctorate from Oklahoma State University. He taught in Muskogee schools, Oklahoma Military Academy, and retired from the mathematics department at NSU. Rosanne worked at several hospitals and retired from the nursing department of the VAMC.
They have three daughters, Teresa and husband Helmut Riedinger; Sandra and husband Dr. Daniel Reynolds; and Kimberly and husband Kerry Summers; and seven grandchildren.
Their daughters completed their secondary education in Muskogee and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Oklahoma before moving out of state.
