The Joneses to celebrate 70th anniversary


Alvin Jones of Muskogee and Bamma Gulley of Stigler eloped to Tahlequah to be married on Aug. 19, 1939.

For the next 50 years they made their home in Muskogee. Upon retirement they moved to Gore. He retired from Fansteel. She retired from Commercial National Bank.

They were active members of Central Baptist Church. Alvin was a member of the Masons. Both were members of Eastern Star. Bamma was a member of American Business Women. They raised one daughter, Jacquita, of Yukon, and twin boys, Roger of Bixby and Gregory of Gore, and one grandson. They have 10 grandchildren.

They are members of the First Baptist Church of Gore.

A celebration will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at their home in Gore celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary.
