The Hayes House Bed and Breakfast Luxury Suites, 555 N. 12th St., has been selected for the Ten Top Inns in Oklahoma by American Dreams Inc. of Logan, Ohio.
Last year, the inn was awarded the Silver Spoon Award for excellence by the Oklahoma Bed and Breakfast Association. Jim Holder, owner, said the Hayes House will again receive the award for 2006.
The house was built by Oscar Hayes, a wealthy businessman in Indian Territory, who wanted to become the state’s first governor. He started building the house in 1907, with hopes of it being the governor’s mansion. He did not win the race.
