Archery teams from Whittier, Benjamin Franklin Science Academy, Cherokee, Alice Robertson Junior High, and Muskogee High School participated in the OKNASP Regional 4 Archery Tournament at the Expo Center in Tulsa. The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife puts on the contest each year. OKNASP is the Oklahoma branch of the National Archery in the Schools Program, a project for Lifelong Adventures, “The Gateway to the Outdoors.” OKNASP has three divisions: elementary (fourth- through sixth-grade), junior high (seventh- through ninth-grade), and high school (10th through 12th grade). Whittier Elementary student Karen Craig placed third in the Girls Elementary Division. She made the top five list and qualified for the OKNASP state tournament scheduled for March 27 in Oklahoma City. Sponsors of Muskogee’s school archery program are Dare Hill (Whittier), Irvin Orton (MHS), Tommy Anderson (BFSA), Brenton Duncan (Cherokee), and Lori Martin (ARJH).
