A welder secures railings in the Checotah High School gym, which is under construction. The gym is part of Checotah’s new high school, the construction of which is being funded by part of a $15.4 million bond issue passed by voters in 2009. Superintendent Mark Calavan would not say when the school or gym would be finished, but said he hoped it could be done by the end of basketball season or the end of the 2013 school year.
