Charred debris can be seen through the window of a residence at 509 Howard St. Muskogee Fire Department offices were closed Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, but a department spokeswoman said a fire burned the residence Sunday night. Though the reporting party told dispatchers the home was empty, the fire department spokeswoman said there were items inside and outside the residence that made it appear to have been recently occupied. No cause for the fire was listed on the fire department’s report.
