The numbers show how much the pump was out of calibration when it was inspected — a deviation of six or more cubic inches per five gallons requires immediate repair, or inspectors will lock the pumps. A cubic inch is equal to about one tablespoon. The sticker also reveals the date of the most recent inspection.
