Phil Sapienza, urban forester for the city of Muskogee, hangs Christmas lights on a gazebo Thursday at Honor Heights Park. Sapienza said city employees have been hanging lights since October and will continue hanging lights “right up until the park opens again.” He said 3,000 lights were being placed on the gazebo alone. The park closed in October and will reopen Thursday at 5:30 p.m. for the Garden of Lights Festival, which runs through December. Gates will be open from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 5:30 to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. To view the display, visitors must enter the park from the top of Agency Hill, just north of the Jack C. Montgomery Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and exit at the 48th Street gate.
